Nippert leads USA to team bronze medal at 100 km World Cup

For the sixth year in a row, Howard Nippert (Fork Union, Va.) led all Team USA finishers at the IAU 100 km World Cup in Winschoten, Netherlands, on Sunday, September 9. Nippert's eighth place finish in 6 hours, 49 minutes, 31 seconds led the U.S. team to a bronze medal behind Japan and Russia respectively. Other Team USA performers included Greg Crowther (Seattle, Wash.), 11th in 6:52:52; and Chad Ricklefs (Boulder, Colo.), 17th in 7:01:10.

In the women's race, Team USA finished fourth, led by Kami Semick (Bend, Ore.), who finished ninth in 7:51:54. Additional U.S. finishers were Devon Crosby-Helms (San Francisco, Calif.), 15th in 8:06:20; Julie Udchachon (Eagle River, Alaska), 16th in 8:14:04; Connie Gardner (Medina, Ohio), 18th in 8:15:14; and Carolyn Smith (Milwaukee, Wis.), 19th in 8:16:17.
